Ferraria Hillside

The Ferraria Hillside park area displays Finnish fruit and berry plants. Of each plant species, there are multiple cultivars, breeding lines and regional variations so that the visitors can see the diversity of the species. For example, different black currants taste differently and have other differing characteristics as well.

The berries and fruits can be taste at the spot. We wish that the plants are respected, their branches are not cut off and the crop is not collected into containers.

In addition to black currants, the park also has red currants, white currants, gooseberries, apples, cherries, plums, pears, blackberries and raspberries, Japanese quinces, nothern highbush blueberries, common sea-buckthorns and various herbs.

The park was a collaborative project of the Municipality of Jokioinen, Luke Natural Resources Institute Finland and its Sustainable Use of Genetic Resources programme between years 2006 and 2009. It is situated beneath the Parsonage Museum by the Vaulammintie Road, and has a beautiful view to wards the Loimijoki River and the Elonkierto Agricultural Exhibition Park. The 700-metre-long path network of the Ferraria Hillside is part of the Jokioinen Municipality path network and the park can be accessed also by walking the forest path.
